Inventory groups

Understanding Inventory Groups

An Inventory Group helps you manage products that share the same base physical item. This ensures your stock levels stay accurate, even when the same product is listed in multiple variations or designs.

What is an Inventory Group?

An Inventory Group is a collection of products that represent the same underlying physical item, even if they are sold under different designs or listings.

👉 For example:

  • Suppose you sell t-shirts in multiple designs.
  • A Medium / Red t-shirt remains the same physical product, no matter what design is printed on it.
  • You can group all these Medium/Red t-shirts (across different designs) into one Inventory Group.

Why Use Inventory Groups?

  • When you cannot use auto sync due to legacy reasons, you can not assign the same SKU to duplicate items. In that case, you will need to manually define which products are duplicates within the app.
  • Keeps your stock consistent across duplicates
  • Prevents overselling
  • Simplifies inventory tracking

Recommendations:

We recommend using auto sync instead of inventory groups, as it provides 100% automation. You just need to ensure that duplicates share the same product attribute, such as SKU or barcode.
